2021 SHC 5K Shirt Design Contest Winner Announced

Drum roll, please!!! Announcing the winner of the 2020/2021 School House Champions 5K Shirt Design Contest! Lily Rose of Scott County Middle School!!!!

We were super impressed with the creativity and compassion Lily’s design showed. It bought out a bigger theme that we very much love … that everyone can be a champion for themselves and for others.

Lily’s design will be professionally finished and will grace the front of our 2021 SHC 5K shirt. New this year, the contest invited students, faculty and staff of our schools in Scott County to submit a design for consideration. Our run planning committee selected the winning design from among 26 entries.

Thanks to all who entered, and congratulations, Lily!!!

Thanks, Georgetown Community Hospital, for all you do, including sponsoring SHC!

Even as this pandemic hit our community, Georgetown Community Hospital was already standing strong for us. The hospital had just signed on as a return sponsor for the 2020 (now 2021) SHC5K. Taking care of our community’s medical needs is surely a tough job, and this isn’t making it easier. But know we are glad you’ve chosen to care for us — whether it’s supporting our race or curing our ills. Thank you, Georgetown Community Hospital doctors, nurses and staff, for all you do!

2020 SHC 5K is now SHC 5K 2021!

After attempting to wait this pandemic out, the School House Champions 5K team has decided to officially postpone our race for this year to next year, for all the reasons you know all too well. Ultimately, everyone’s health and safety is paramount for us, and our decision to punt to 2021 seems to be best for us all.

In the meantime, continue to be champions for us all … wash those hands and limit interactions with others outside your core personal group to help keep the spread of this thing down. Don’t panic, be considerate of and help others, and just like in a race, keep a steady pace forward to the finish line.

You might have questions. Here are some answers.

Do I need to re-register for the new date? Nope, not at all. Your registration will transfer over to the new date automatically.

My student will go to a new school next year. Can I change the school my registration supports? Absolutely. Just email us at and we will get that changed for you.

What if I can’t attend on the race on the new date? Your registration fee will still be donated to the school you selected during registration, and you can still pick up your race packet the week before the race, which will include our cool race shirt, featuring a design by Scott County Middle Schooler Lily Rose, who won our 2020 shirt design contest.

We have more people to register for the 2021 run. When can we do that? Anytime. Just click the link in this message, or go to and click on the Register tab.

Thanks so much for your support, patience and understanding. Be safe and take care out there!

Hanging in there.

We hope that you all are using this “down” time to get in some extra running time, staying healthy and helping each other out. We have a tentative OK to have our event in August … if the ban on gatherings of large groups is lifted. Cross your fingers, keep running, and stay tuned for more detail.
